Borough Yards

Borough Yards

If the tempting stalls at Borough Market wasn’t enough to bring you to Southwark, the nearby development of Borough Yards cements London Bridge as one of the most exciting shopping and dining destinations in the capital. The recently restored railway arches, now reimagined, offers the perfect respite from the busy market nearby, with a delightful mix of shops and restaurants to discover.

Here’s our top suggestions when visiting Borough Yards.

Kitchen Provisions

Kitchen Provisions

This mecca for all things kitchenware had us roaming the store floor for quite some time. The owners, Tom and Helen, wanted to create an experience where the items on offer have been tried and tested, their unique specialty being kitchen knives and sharpeners. So, if you are the consummate foodie, in need of an upgrade in the kitchen department, this place will have you covered. They also stock a gorgeous selection of homeware, posters and cookbooks.

Top Tip

The staff are super helpful so if you have any questions at all, they really know their stuff.

Atis

Atis

For the health conscious foodie, the word ‘Atis’ will be a familiar one. Their commitment to flexible, plant-focused ingredients is thoughtful and well put together, with quality at the top of their agenda. Surprisingly, meat and dairy are not omitted entirely and you can add chicken, eggs and cheese to any of your dishes. We like the fact this is a sensible, mindful approach to food. We can certainly vouch for their delicious salad and noodle bowls, which are a great lunchtime option.

We recommend

The Azteca salad bowl with spinach, charred corn, feta and chicken was incredibly tasty and kept us full for most of the day. Added bonus, we felt rather virtuous in terms of the ‘health’ factor – brownie point for us.

Santa Nata

Santa Nata

Handmade Pastel de Nata is one of the world’s great pastries, and the fact that Santa Nata only serves these little delicacies should tell how good they are. Now for the taste: flaky, crisp pastry filled with thick, creamy custard with a hint of lemon and cinnamon is…chef’s kiss! Once you try them, you will be returning time and again.

We suggest

Listen out for the bell which is a sure-sign a fresh batch is just coming out of the oven – we promise they’re worth the wait.

Le Chocolat – Alain Ducasse

Le Chocolat – Alain Ducasse

The name ‘Alain Ducasse’ is world renowned for gastronomic excellence both in his home of France and worldwide. He now brings his formidable experience into the world of chocolate…and he does so with panache! Stepping inside the store feels more like the lobby of a luxurious members club, with his divine creations behind ornate, glass cabinets. The lovely staff are on hand to help you chose and ensure you find a chocolate specific to your tastes. It’s a treat in itself just to visit the store…perhaps Mr Ducasse could do members clubs, too?

We recommend

The 12 piece Discovery Box is the ideal introduction to this superlative chocolatier.

Amorino

Amorino

This Italian gelateria has an impressive 15 year history in the UK, with stores dotted all over London – you’ve probably already seen them. The recipe is simple: traditional gelato made with quality ingredients, without any artificial flavours. They have a great selection of traditional gelato as well as more inventive flavour combinations. We love the fact there is outside seating here so you can enjoy your gelato in style.

Our suggestion

The Dulce de Leche and Mint, Chocolate Chip make for a heavenly combination.

Everyman Cinema

Everyman Cinema

We think going to the cinema should have a luxury touch to it, and this is why the Everyman Cinemas is always a great choice. You can almost guarantee a cosy viewing experience with plush seating that makes you feel as though you’re watching a film at home. Best of all, you can also add a cocktail into the mix…you’ll be so rested after the film you won’t want to leave.

Our suggestion

Order a cocktail and pizza straight to your seat – cinema night has never been this good.
