The Famous Harrods Teddy Bears

These little furry companions have been a Harrods’ stalwart for more than half a century, having first been introduced back in 1906. Each year, a special Christmas bear is introduced which has become a true collector’s item and are promptly snapped up by fans of the annual addition to the bear family.

We had the adorable task of going through the bears to unearth their personal story, which we hope matches you with your perfect little fluffy friend. Let’s introduce the bears!

Guardsman Bear

This little guy will be on continual watch for his pedigree is second to none, wearing the uniform of the Kings’ guardsman, no less. The bear is a smart little companion, and we think would work as a gift for anyone who is a fan of the King’s loyal and protective guardsman. His little shiny buttons on his royal red coat make this an adorable bear to have.

My Harrods Teddy

If you’re looking for the ultimate baby shower or new parent gift this beautifully soft first toy will be a treasured first memento. You’ll see from the photos how soft the fur is and as it’s made from plush, super soft fur it is extremely snuggly. It also has the store’s seal of approval with the famous Harrods’ green ribbon, and ‘My Harrods Teddy’ stitched on his little paw.

Paddington Bear

This world-famous bear barely needs an introduction, instantly recognisable from his blue duffel coat and bright red hat. This timeless bear makes the perfect gift for fans of the adorable and equally precocious little character.

What we particularly love about Harrods’ take on Paddington Bear is the attention to detail: smart, brown toggles on his bright bluecoat, the letters P.B. initialled on the hem, as well as the smart faux leather briefcase. This is adorable bear truly deserves a loving home…and don’t forget the marmalade sandwich!

Leo Plush Bear

Wearing the traditional green Harrod’s blazer you know this bear is styled after the wonderful employees who work at the store, and who are on hand to help at every turn. We particularly love the tousled fur, which gives this charming bear such personality. He really is a character!

Union Jack Bear

It’s the snuggly jumper that we couldn’t resist when we spotted the proud little Union Jack Bear. The jumper is just so snug against his fluffy torso and is a lovely keepsake if you’re on a vacation in London, as he is sure to bring a smile to your face whenever you see him. You’ll notice the gold stitching on his paw which is a charming touch.

Policeman Bear

Everyone needs to be on good form when you spot the smart looking Policeman Bear. This adorable bear looks ready for a shift, manning the famous Harrods store in his dashing blue uniform and Policeman’s hat. Other bears best be on the lookout!

Anniversary Bear 2024 Henry

To commemorate the incredible 175-year history of Harrods, Henry was created in celebration of the stores’ long and illustrious history. This delightful bear is named after founder, Charles Henry Harrod, who opened his first shop in 1834, although the original location in east London soon changed to the world-famous Knightsbridge address we know today.

You’ll notice that Henry is wearing an elegant Tweed jacket and satin bow, making him the smartest bear in the group, wouldn’t you agree?

Oliver Bear

This super-cute, snuggly bear is the perfect gift for the little ones in your life. Oliver has the softest fur, and it’s hard not to part with him – he’s just so cuddly. His little blue ribbon bow is the perfect finishing touch, and we dare say he is the most snuggly of all.

Piper Bear

This delightful bear is kitted out in traditional tartan and pipers’ outfit and is the most charming little fellow. It’s the hat that drew us in, as he really does look the part. The only thing missing is the bagpipes – we truly hope they’ll add them at some point. This lovely bear is sure to bring a touch of the Scottish spirit into your home.

The prettiest of all the bears, sweet Harriet is the perfect gift and memento of your time in London. With the softest fur and baby pink satin ribbon, she will look adorable as part of any treasured bear collection.

Beefeater Bear

We think the Tower of London is missing a guard as this delightful bear is clearly guarding Harrods instead! These iconic royal guards we’re originally called ‘Yeoman Warders’, however, the nickname ‘Beefeater’ came about because the guards were partly paid in chunks of beef until around the 1800s.

We think this bear is the ultimate companion to celebrate your time in London. We think the hat looks particularly fetching, too.

Zac Bear

We’re all in agreement at Plate & Place that ‘Zac bear’ is the coolest and most stylish of them all. You’ll notice his modern, knitted hoodie that looks so cool that we wondered if they make them adult sized, too. His gorgeous fur coat is also softly tousled and would make a charming addition to any soft toy collection.

Green Man London Bear

If you’re after the ultimate Harrods keepsake, the classic Green Man bear will be a forever reminder of your trip to London. This uber-smart bear is dressed in the iconic green uniform, replete with fetching hat. You can almost imagine him saying, ‘Welcome to Harrods!’.
