Describe your perfect day in London?

My perfect day in London is when I explore the city’s rich history with Jim. We both love all parts of London, and Jim always shares interesting historical facts about the places we visit. Once, we were at a restaurant, and Jim pointed out that a scene from one of my favourite films, Frenzy by Alfred Hitchcock, was filmed right where we were sitting, in Covent Garden. My perfect day involves walking through London, reading blue plaques, and exploring film locations and historical sites. It’s an incredible city to walk through, especially with someone who loves history as much as I do.

Favourite restaurant?

Dishoom in King’s Cross is an absolute favourite. It’s an Indian restaurant with the most amazing selection of dishes. Jim and I love to order a variety of single dishes, like the flaky white fish in crispy batter with Indian spices, and their tandoori lamb chops, which melt in your mouth. It’s all served with yogurt, seeds, and spices, making it a flavour explosion!

What was the last museum or gallery you visited?

The last gallery I visited was the Royal Academy, and it was a special occasion because Jim’s artwork was accepted to be displayed there. Seeing his bird colour wheel and his painting of Antony and Cleopatra hanging at the Royal Academy was an amazing experience and I was so proud.

Where are the best places to shop?

London is full of fantastic shopping spots! Jim and I love exploring Shoreditch, especially a shop called Ujng, where we’ve found some incredible styles. I also love Boxpark, and of course, Vivienne Westwood on Conduit Street, where I often pop in. Regent Street is another favorite place for high street shops for designer brands like Gucci in Bond Street.

Preferred bar or pub for a great night out?

I love an old-fashioned pub, and The Lamb and Flag pub in Covent Garden is a favourite – it’s the oldest pub in London, over 400 years old! The decor is amazing. I also love Rules, where Jim and I often enjoy Steak and Kidney pudding with gravy and cabbage. For a more modern vibe, The Groucho Club is wonderful. My agent, Jaine Brent, and I have had some fabulous days and nights there – it’s such a friendly place. Also, Jim proposed to me in the Groucho. Fantastic memories. Soho House in Greek Street is brilliant. We also love going to Ronnie Scott’s. The last time we were there we saw Curtis Stiger and then we saw Marcus Miller with our friends, Mike and Lesley. Such a fantastic night out. I have had wonderful times in London with my Mum and Dad over the years – London is such a special city.

Tipple of choice?

I love a Provence Rosé, but a Cosmopolitan is always a great choice, too – fresh, fruity, and strong! Also, I love a Mocktail.

Most relaxing place to unwind?

The Langham is my go-to for unwinding. It’s so genteel and relaxing, and everyone there takes such good care of you.

If you had only one day in London, where would you visit?

I’d spend the day visiting as many art galleries as possible – the V&A and the Natural History Museum, for sure. After a full day of exploring, I’d end up at The Wolseley for a beautiful meal, meeting my twin daughters with Jim, catching up over fine wine.

What is your top London tip?

Always take a pair of flat shoes with you – you’ll need them after all the walking!

I’m working on a lot of exciting projects right now. I absolutely love working with The Fabulous Me Company, where I have my own micro makeup range, The Nancy Sorrell Collection. I’ve also developed a fantastic 3-step face kit with Harley Street Skin, which I’m proud of. We’re hoping to sell even more products to support the launch of a help and advice channel – it’s all about looking good, doing good, and giving back. Jim and I have loved filming ‘Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir’ and you can catch up on the previous series currently on Sky Arts. We adored every moment of filming the series as it combines all our passions in life. In fact, Jim and I will be talking at the Hay Festival on Saturday 30th November 2024 8.30pm.

On top of that, I’ll be starting my own radio show soon with Delux Radio, which is exciting since music is one of my biggest passions. I have an eclectic taste in music, from Chas and Dave to The Darkness, so I’m really looking forward to sharing that with everyone. We’ve also got some TV projects in the works for 2025, so it’s going to be a busy year!
