Newly launched ‘Tiffin’ set menu lunch at Singapulah

Newly launched ‘Tiffin’ set menu lunch at Singapulah

Singaporean food is one of our favourites here at Plate & Place, and the recent arrival of Singapulah in 2024 means more opportunity to indulge in this vibrant and flavourful cuisine.

If you’re new to the delights of Singapulah, we can vouch for their superlative Laksa, outstanding Nasi Lemak, as well as the best Coconut shake in London. For restaurant enthusiasts, it will interest you to know the legendary restaurateur, Ellen Chew, is proudly at the helm, overseeing a menu of beloved dishes and authentic recipes with the foods she cherished – and continues to champion – from her childhood.

The arrived of the newly launched ‘Tiffin’ set menu gives diners the opportunity to indulge in some of the restaurants’ classic dishes at a reasonably priced lunchtime deal.

What sets this lunch apart is the exquisite presentation, with each component of the lunch presented in a decorative Tiffin carrier. In essence, it is a stacked lunchbox with different components, typically used for hot food, as it is here. The beautiful presentation instantly turns a simple, fuss-free lunch into a special occasion, and something to be savoured.

What did we choose?

Three Cup Claypot Chicken

Three Cup Claypot Chicken

This delicious, Taiwanese chicken dish is the one you’ll be craving long after the lunch is over. The delicate pieces of chicken have been wok-fried to both crispy and juicy perfection, with a mix of aromatic spices, and then simmered in a specific measure of three-cup reduction of rice wine, Tai Hua soy sauce and Chee Seng sesame oil. This dish also has a medley of red onion and peppers, giving plenty of contrasting flavours and textures. This is a standout dish, and one that you’ll be pleased to know you can order on the main menu.

Hainese Pork Chop

Hainese Pork Chop

This old-school speciality had us drooling with that heavenly combination of sweet and savoury – a balance which Singaporean cuisine always perfects so well. The pork chop is evenly breaded and fried to a pleasing golden brown, topped with a tomato sauce and a medley of onion and peas – it’s both moreish, with that delectable, satisfying tang. This dish perfectly complements the egg-fried rice, as well as the side accompaniment of garlic fine beans.

Aubergine Sambal and Garlic Fine Beans

Aubergine Sambal and Garlic Fine Beans

The accompanying vegetable sides dishes are two strong additions with the Aubergine Sambal and Garlic Fine Beans. For fans of aubergine, this delicately sweet and moreish dish will leave you wanting more – even though the portions are perfectly generous. The aubergine cubes are wok-fried in a homemade sambal sauce, which has a well-balanced amount of heat, while also offering a satisfying sweet and sour taste which comes through from the lime and palm sugar.

There’s lots that can go wrong with a simple ingredient such as delicate fine beans, but here you’ll find crispy, bright coloured green beans with a delicious garlic hit.

In addition to the savoury element, you can also choose from a delicious choice of hot and cold drinks, courtesy of Yeo’s, as well as Birchall teas.
