Brunch at Morena

Morena

A wander into Ecclestone Yards in charming Belgravia is always a good thing, and when paired with the prospect of brunch, you have the ingredients for a rather splendid Saturday. Nestled between the boutique shops of the busy, open courtyard you’ll discover all-dining destination, Morena. Founded by sisters, Juliana and Valentina Beleno, with the idea of bringing Latin-American inspired dishes (with a twist!) to the London dining scene; the result is a relaxed, vibrant space which seems to fit in perfectly with the bohemian vibes of the development.

Additionally, if you like your brunch time eats with an upbeat tempo, you can enjoy the resident house DJ who plays from 12pm at the weekend. The tracks are chilled and complement the restaurant and the young, stylish crowd it attracts.

Best dishes

Chef, Katen Beltran, has created a varied, inventive menu with plenty of crowd-pleasing options for brunch. The instant standout was the Corn Pancakes with banana, strawberry and agave; each pancake, plump and spongy was best eaten with extra agave – simple and delicious.

If you’re after a healthy protein fix, we would recommend the Mexican Chicken bowl with quinoa, avocado, black beans and crispy tortillas. The mix of fresh flavours with the added creaminess from the chipotle mayo makes this a solid ‘you-won’t-be-hungry-all-day’ choice.

And finally, you can’t beat egg for breakfasts and the Baked Eggs with ranchera sauce was an oozy, gooey offering with plenty of paprika spice coming from the chorizo, with a decent amount of velvety avocado to bring the whole dish together. Every morsel was lovingly mopped up with chewy, sourdough toast.

Drinks

You’ll find an eclectic mix of cocktails with a thoughtful selection of alcohol-free alternatives which were just as good. Our case in point: The Yuzu Lemonade made with lemon, sugar syrup, soda water and yuzu (of course) was cleverly balanced between sweet and tart and hit the spot on a particularly warm day. Another classic choice being the Hibiscus Iced Tea which was a sweet, aromatic and refreshing brunch time pick-me-up.

Latest deals

You can enjoy the Bottomless Brunch deal every weekend for £28. This includes 90 minutes of popular brunch cocktails, including the classic Margarita, Prosecco or Aperol Spritz.

Do you need to book?

It’s not required but we would certainly advise as it gets particularly busy over the weekend, especially around brunch.
