The Finest Chocolate Gifts in Harrods

The Finest Chocolate Gifts in Harrods

Looking for the perfect gift of the ‘sweet’ variety? There’s no greater store in London than Harrods for their superlative selection of the world’s finest chocolate.

On the ground floor Food Hall, you’ll discover a magnificent emporium dedicated to premium fresh chocolates, sweet treats, and ready-made gifts boxes filled with all manner of creams, curds and pralines…and that’s just for starters.

If you want to discover the world’s leading chocolate brands, we have curated a sumptuous guide which is bound to delight.

Here’s our round-up of the finest chocolate gifts in Harrods.

Charbonnel et Walker

Charbonnel et Walker

This esteemed brand is Britain’s first chocolatier and dates all the way back to 1875. Madame Charbonnel was known for making the most delicious chocolates in Paris and was encouraged by King Edvard VII no less to speak to Mrs Walker (from London) who made the most dazzling jewellery boxes; together they married their talents, which was the beginnings of one of the world’s most exemplary chocolatiers.

Over the years, these divine chocolate creations have become a favourite of royalty, as well as stars of the stage and screen. Famous fans included Princess Diana, Lauren Bacall and Noel Coward.

If you’ve yet to try their luxury chocolates, we recommend two bestselling ranges, including the Pink Marc De Champagne Truffles and the Milk Sea Salt Caramel Truffles. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, take a look at the Victorian Drawer Truffle Selection – we think Madame Charbonnel and Mrs Walker would approve!

William Curley

William Curley

One of our favourite chocolatiers, Wiliam Curley is a master of his craft, famous for sourcing only the finest ingredients for his delectable creations. William first began his career in the finest hotels and restaurants, including The Savoy and Pierre Koffman, before he opened his first store in 2004.

William, along with his wife Melissa, and a dedicated team in London make all their chocolate from scratch. They are known for their invention unique flavour combinations, such as Juniper and Blackcurrant and Japanese Black Vinegar.

We are fans of his ‘Nostalgia’ range which focuses on timeless treats and chocolate bars from childhood; we highly recommend the Coconut Bar made with toasted coconut, white chocolate ganache and covered in an exquisite dark chocolate, and the Jaffa Cake which is a lighter-than-air Genoise sponge, with a tangy orange ganache and marmalade, enrobed in the most delicious dark chocolate.

Patchi

Patchi

The branding for these chocolates is so incredibly stylish, we would likely buy just for ‘looks’ alone. It’s good to know that the quality is as delicious as the packaging. This contemporary chocolatier first hit the scene in 1972, evolving into one of the world’s most globally renowned chocolateries, known for using the finest ingredients with absolutely no preservatives.

We think these chocolates make for great presents and chic ideas for hostess gifts, in particular. If you’re new to the brand, you need to try the Les Batons with crispy crepes and dark chocolate, as well as a Classic Box to fill with the chocolates of your choosing.

Harrods Chocolate

Harrods

It would be rude not to stop by Harrods’ distinguished own brand of chocolates, which can certainly rival any of the other leading chocolatiers. Here you will discover a counter of freshly made chocolates which is always a big attraction for customers – the selection is simply divine.

We also love their range of boxed chocolates as well as their Cocoa-Dusted Pistachios, Mixed Chocolate Almonds, as well as their heavenly Milk Chocolate Strawberries.

What we particularly love about the Harrods’ own range is that there is so much choice, which is guaranteed to suit all price points, too. If you fancy something sweet and not too expensive, one of their delicious chocolate bars is the perfect take-away treat. Additionally, their mid-size chocolate range makes a delight gift, and, if you’re planning to go all-out their Belgian Favourites Mini Chocolate Selection is bound to impress.

Läderach

Läderach

This much-beloved Swiss chocolate maker is famous for their ‘FrischSchoggi’ which translates to ‘fresh chocolate’, and the sweet aromas as you pass by are heavenly. This is one of our favourite places to source the best milk chocolate for its fresh creamy taste and smooth texture.

Founded in 1962, Läderach initially only supplied their creations to local Swiss stores but eventually expanded world-wide to become the recognisable brand they are today.

To have the full Läderach experience you need to try some of their sought-after Cornflakes Milk fresh chocolate which is one of the most addictive treats you can find in Harrods. You also need to sample the limited-edition Dubai Milk which is filled with a nutty Pistachio filling, as well as crispy baked kataifi threads.

Pierre Marcolini

Pierre Marcolini

The house of Pierre Marcolini is currently celebrating their 30 Year Anniversary with a stunning line of delicious chocolate items to mark this special occasion. This renowned chocolatier offers a wide range of products, always made with the highest quality ingredients.

What always delights us is the synergy between the quality of the products and the stunning packaging; in fact, the gift boxes look like they come from a fine jewellery store rather than a chocolatier. As the 30-year anniversary is being celebrated, we suggest the Anniversary Malline which contains a stunning chocolate selection of the most popular and beloved recipes.

As well as chocolate, you’ll discover some of the finest baked goods, and you won’t be able to leave without a tempting box of Crunchy Hazelnut Biscuits, enrobed in the finest milk chocolate – perfect for tea time.

Neuhaus

Neuhaus

For fans of Belgian praline, there is no greater chocolatier than Neuhaus. In fact, this company was the original inventor of the praline that we know and love today. The company was founded over a 100 years ago, and still makes their famous chocolates and pralines from their headquarters in Belgium.

It goes without saying that a box of fresh pralines here are must, and the irresistible ‘Manon Lait’ are our favourites; praline, fresh cream and hazelnuts coated in dreamy milk chocolate. You also need to try their ‘Les Gourmand’ range which combines praline and crunchy biscuit – we must hasten to add that these are sinfully addictive.

Venchi

Venchi

Italian style and chocolate expertise is married together for the always fun and flavourful Venchi. This brand is known for its incredible variety of chocolate, and here at Harrods, you’ll even discover the ‘My Venchi Mix’ where you can choose from a huge variety of individual chocolates, wrapped in their signature colourful packaging.

This delightful brand, founded in 1878, is also known for their variety of products which include Nougatine, chocolate spreads, and even gelato.

If you want to have a true taste of Venchi, try a selection from the ‘My Venchi Mix’; the Cremino, Chocoviar Pistachio and Gianduia Hazelnut are exceptional.

Godiva

Godiva

The signature gold box of Godiva is a true classic and one that always signals quality and tradition. This prestigious company and universally adored chocolatier, founded in 1926, has become one of the premier Belgian chocolatiers.

There’s something so timeless about this brand and receiving the Gold Ballotin box is, and always will be, an exquisite treat. We also love the variety of this brand, expanding into coffee as well as Lady Godiva Milk Chocolate Biscuits, which never lasts that long at Plate & Place!

For the ultimate Godiva experience, treat yourself to the Signature Chocolate Truffles which have become a new favourite.
